AND...

Explorer's Guide to the Neponset River Water Watershed.

New, Improved Edition Coming Soon! Includes a poster-size map of the Watershed.

Canoeing
The Neponset Watershed is full of beautiful canoeing stretches. The Neponset River has 14 canoe launches along its banks, and the watershed has pond canoe access points in Foxboro, Sharon, Walpole, Canton, Dedham, Westwood and Hyde Park. The Guide provides directions and maps to these sites.

History
Did you know Lake Massapoag in Sharon was once dredged for iron deposits? The lake was partially drained to retrieve iron to produce some of the first iron balls and shots in the American Revolution. This and many other interesting facts about the Watershed can be found in The Explorer's Guide.

Hiking/Walking
There are several nature trails throughout the Neponset River Watershed. Scenic views and wildlife abound in the watershed's reservoirs and reservations. The Neponset Greenway is a multi-use trail along the Neponset Estuary, and just one of the many places for hiking and bird watching. The Explorer's Guide provides detailed descriptions of trails in the watershed and provides maps and directions to get to them.

Environment
A watershed is the area of land which drains into a particular body of water. Everything from excess fertilizer on the lawn, to car oil on the road, eventually gets washed into the Neponset River. The Explorer's Guide details how you can make a difference in protecting and restoring the Neponset River Watershed.

Fishing
Many spots in the Neponset River Watershed are ideal spots for both river and pond fishing. Where is the best place to fish for smelt? The Explorer's Guide has maps and directions to fishing areas around the watershed.

Parks

Several parks and reservations are available for families or individuals to enjoy. The parks have picnic areas, public pools, playgrounds, and much more. Find out what your parks have for you in The Explorer's Guide.

Much more!
The Neponset River Watershed has much more to offer. Along with all the great recreational activities mentioned above, you can also find: horseback riding, skiing, skating, ball fields and museums. Check out The Explorer's Guide for more details!
