Action Alert: Support Norwood Stormwater Enterprise Fund TONIGHT!

May 13, 2024

Town Meeting begins TONIGHT, and the Neponset River Watershed Association urges all Town Meeting members to support Article 9 of the Special Town Meeting Warrant.

Acceptance of this article is the first step towards improving Norwood’s resilience to climate-driven flooding and reducing the greatest source of pollution in Neponset River waterways.

A Stormwater Enterprise Fund would ensure reliable resources are available for stormwater management projects in Norwood. Like other towns throughout the Commonwealth, Norwood is facing significant changes in rain patterns and must manage heavier rainstorms with older infrastructure that was not built to handle them.

Whether you are a Town Meeting member or not, please register to speak in favor of the proposal with the Town Moderator, Gerri Slater by emailing her at moderator@norwoodma.gov.

(Note that while Town Meeting begins tonight, anything not taken up tonight will be continued until Thursday, May 16th)

Questions? Visit the Ad Hoc Committee website or contact NepRWA Managing Director for Community Resilience, Kerry Snyder, at snyder@neponset.org

These storms threaten people, property and infrastructure. Local enterprise funds are being implemented by towns across the state to ensure appropriate resources are available to reduce both flood risk and the amount of polluted storm runoff that enters our waterways.
