Norwood Launches Free Tree Program to Help with Flooding and Heat
March 2025 —
Over the past year, NepRWA has been working with the Town of Norwood on a grant-funded project to help the community prepare for climate change.
Together, we’ve focused on:
- Updating town rules to better handle flooding and heat.
- Supporting Norwood’s new stormwater utility.
- Connecting with residents who are most affected by climate change.
We’re excited to share that Norwood’s new Community Liaison, Julie Ngo, has joined the team and is leading a free tree program for Norwood residents. (Ends June 30, 2025)
By planting more trees, Norwood is helping protect homes and families from the effects of climate change.
This program focuses on neighborhoods that are more vulnerable to flooding and extreme heat. Residents who take part get a free tree to plant in their yard and agree to take care of it for at least 3 years.
Why trees? Trees are a simple way to make a big difference. They help soak up stormwater, cool down hot neighborhoods, and clean the air and water.
