Exciting Progress on the Northern Greenway Extension!
Nov. 2024 — DCR is making significant headway on the Northern Greenway Extension, bringing the long-awaited trail connection between Tenean Beach and Morrissey Boulevard closer to reality. After nearly two years of construction, this new section of the Greenway is almost complete.
Spanning approximately three-quarters of a mile along Route 93, the extension passes notable landmarks like Boston Bowl, Victory Park, and the iconic rainbow gas tank along the Neponset River.
This new stretch features thoughtful additions like benches, trees, and a scenic boardwalk overlooking the Neponset Estuary.
These improvements will provide a safer, more enjoyable route for walkers and cyclists, enabling residents from the Neponset Watershed and beyond to travel further into Boston—or out toward the suburbs—without navigating busy roads that lack pedestrian infrastructure.
We’re eagerly awaiting the announcement of an official opening day for this vital addition to the Greenway. Stay tuned for updates!
