Metro Boston Partnership Advances River Restoration and Climate Resilience
July 16, 2026 — The Neponset River Watershed Association and Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) are partnering through the new Metro Boston Partnership to advance watershed-scale restoration and climate resilience projects across the Charles and Neponset River watersheds.
The partnership is supported by a $101,305 grant from the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) Partnerships Program.
This funding will help NepRWA and CRWA work together to identify the region’s most important restoration needs, build partnerships, and move projects forward that improve river health and strengthen climate resilience.
The partnership will focus on advancing projects such as culvert replacements, dam removals, and stream and wetland restoration efforts that benefit rivers, wildlife, and communities across the region.
This award is one of six funded by the DER Partnerships Program.
This program aims to support partnerships that help Commonwealth communities restore rivers and wetlands, reduce flooding, improve water quality, and strengthen climate resilience.
