Recap: 2025 Neponset River Spring Cleanup

April 26th was a VERY rainy day — and it didn’t let up — but that didn’t stop more than 150 incredible volunteers from showing up for the Neponset River Spring Cleanup!

Despite the steady downpour, folks pitched in at 14 sites along the River, its tributaries, and nearby parks to pick up trash and debris. With raincoats, boots, and great attitudes, they made a real difference in many communities.

Huge thanks to everyone who showed up and to our site captains for keeping things running smoothly, even in the wettest conditions!

The Great Neponset Trash Haul

  • 1 baseball bat
  • 1 broom
  • 1 wooden ladder
  • 1 kickball & 3 soccer balls
  • 1 rug
  • 1 bike tire
  • 1 rooftop antenna
  • 2 milk crates
  • 2 fishing poles
  • 6 rubber duckies
  • dozens of beer cans and liquor bottles
  • several feet of metal wire
  • construction debris, metal pipes, plastic hose
  • hundreds of glass and plastic bottles
  • an infinite amount of plastic bottle tops and tiny bits of broken plastic

  12. Canton Park & Ride
  13. Alevizos Park/Ellis Pond, Norwood
  14. Bade Canoe Launch, Norwood
