Resilient Neponset Climate Collaborative

Facilitated by NepRWA, the Neponset Region Climate Resilience Collaborative is a partnership among our region’s cities and towns.

Through the Collaborative, municipal officials work together to collectively seek funding to identify and implement projects that will help reduce the severity of climate-driven hazards to our communities.

Cities and towns are looking to take several types of actions, including: 

• Improve stormwater infrastructure to reduce flooding during heavy rain.
• Replace undersized culverts to prevent roads from washing out.
• Protect critical transportation routes, including evacuation routes.
• Expand natural areas to reduce heat and improve air quality.
• Plant native shade trees to cool neighborhoods and reduce stormwater pollution.
• Maintain essential services during and after extreme weather.

Why Collaboration Matters

Climate impacts don’t stop at municipal boundaries. Extreme storms, flooding, and heat can affect communities across the region, disrupting transportation, power, public services, and public health.

No single community can address these challenges alone. By working together, neighboring cities and towns can share resources, pursue funding, and develop solutions that make the entire region safer, healthier, and more resilient.
